Your primary requirement is to understand if your firm qualifies for the SBIR/STTR programs. Please review the Northrop Grumman SBIR website along with the participating agency websites for requirements.

If your firm qualifies for the SBIR/STTR Program and is interested to partner with Northrop Grumman, your firm must fill out a Northrop Grumman Quad Chart and email it to SBIR@ngc.com for evaluation. SBIR/STTR

The SBIR Program was established under the Small Business Innovation Development Act of 1982 with the purpose to strengthen the domestic small businesses’ role with innovating technology. In 1992 Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) was established via the Small Business Technology Transfer Act to facilitate transferring technology through universities into small businesses.

Northrop Grumman aligns technology roadmaps with small businesses to facilitate innovation & technology solutions. Northrop Grumman partners with small businesses through awarding subcontracts with federal programs and alignment into federally funded programs. Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR), and the Mentor Protégé Program (MPP) are three examples of federally funded programs Northrop Grumman actively participates in with the various federal agencies.

The SBIR & STTR programs are designed to fund small businesses to develop and innovate technologies to support the Warfighter. Northrop Grumman is an active supporter to these programs working as a subcontractor to the small business with an assigned Northrop Grumman Subject Matter Expert (SME) to advise the technology advancement or provide additional analysis, research, and implementation into Northrop Grumman systems.

Phase I: Proof of Concept & Establish Technical Merit. R&D Project. Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 0-2

Phase II: Typically Follow-On based on Phase 1 Results but occasionally topics can go Direct to Phase II based on current maturity. A second Phase II can be pursued for some applications. Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 2-6, Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) 1-6
