This guidance is for current Northrop Grumman Employees.
Employee Referrals
If you know talented individuals who would be assets to Northrop Grumman, we want to meet them. It is recommended that you submit a referral for each requisition rather than using the Job Cart feature to submit referrals to multiple requisitions, this will ensure referral connections are made for each requisition. An update will be provided when the Job Cart feature is fully functioning for employees to submit referrals to multiple requisitions at a time.
Any employee can refer a candidate through Job Hub. Referrals are requisition based, and a candidate needs to be referred to each requisition that they will be considered for.
If an employee initiates a referral, then the candidate must follow steps outlined below to establish the referral connection.
Key Changes to the Employee Referral Process, Effective March 24, 2025
- Referrals will be submitted in Job Hub (instead of Workday).
- Employees can track the status of their referrals in Job Hub.
- Employees do not need to resubmit referrals that were previously submitted in Workday
- For referrals submitted before the launch of Job Hub, employees can still track those via the Workday My Referrals report.
- Employee eligibility, and requisition eligibility, and the Employee Referral Awards Program (ERAP) payout amounts remain the same.
- The Job Hub referral options will show a Job Cart, where employees can add multiple jobs to refer someone to. However, at this time it is recommended that employees refer candidates to requisitions individually using the Refer Now button referral connection is established.
How an Employee Submits Referrals
Navigate to the Job Hub.
- Scroll down and click Refer a friend under My activity.
- You will have two options:
- Upload your referral’s resume and allow the Job Hub AI to match and recommend jobs.
- While not required, providing a resume is recommended as it can support the referral and hiring process.
- Browse all external jobs and provide your referral’s resume.
- Upload your referral’s resume and allow the Job Hub AI to match and recommend jobs.
- Regardless of the chosen approach, you will review job matches and will be presented with the option to Refer Now or Add to Job Cart.
- Note:To ensure referral connections are made for each requisition, it is recommended that employees not use the Job Cart function for referrals at this time. An update will be provided when the Job Cart feature is fully functioning for employee referrals.
- After clicking Refer Now, you will be taken to a new page called Submit Your Referral. You must provide referral’s information. Only the Name, Email, and Source are required, but a resume is recommended. Click Submit once the details are provided.
- Note: Even though there is only one option to select for the Source (Employee Referral) it must be selected.
- After clicking Submit, you will see two forms of confirmation:
- Immediately after clicking Submit, a new page will appear indicating Thanks for Your Referral!
- You will also receive a confirmation email.
Repeat this process for all additional referrals.
Required Candidate Action When Referred by an Employee
The candidate will receive an email with a direct link to the requisition that the employee referred them to. When the candidate completes the application, the referral connection will be established. Referred candidates who apply to jobs without the referral link will not be considered as your referral.
Tracking Your Referrals in Job Hub
Check the status of your referrals in Job Hub by clicking Referrals under My activity.
Note: Referrals previously submitted in Workday do not need to be resubmitted in Job Hub. While referrals submitted in Workday won’t be visible in Job Hub, you can still track those referrals via the Workday My Referrals report.
Corporate Policy
The Employee Referral task in Job Hub has been designed to be as user-friendly as possible. For detailed information, see below or reach out to us for more information (contact information is below).
Enterprise Employee Referrals Award Program (ERAP) Policy

Candidate referrals are maintained in the Northrop Grumman Applicant Tracking System.

FAQ
What happens after I submit my referral?
Your referral receives an email asking them to “click below and submit your application to complete the referral process.” If eligible, you will receive a referral award based on the hiring sector’s payout policy. Not all employees, positions, and candidates are eligible. If your referral is hired and you both meet the eligibility requirements, you’ll be notified that your bonus award is being processed.
Do I need to refer someone for every job?
If you believe your candidate is qualified for other jobs with NG, you will need to submit a new referral for each job you identify. You are only eligible to receive a referral award for the job you have referred your candidate to the Job Hub. Candidates who apply to jobs without a referral link will not be considered as your referral.
How do I know if my referral has been viewed by a recruiter?
Once you have submitted your referral, you can check the status from Job Hub My activity > Referrals.
Can I submit a resume directly to my manager for an opening within my department?
No, referrals must be submitted through Job Hub to be eligible for an award.
If my referral is hired by another sector, am I still eligible for the award?
Yes, the Referral Program works across sectors. You may be eligible for the award if there is a bonus attached.
How long is my referral valid?
Referrals are valid for one year from the submission date received in the system where the referrer is listed as the source of referral on eligible positions.
What do I get if my referral is hired?
Referral bonuses are determined by the sector that approves and opens the associated requisition. If the position your referral was hired to qualifies for an award, you will receive that award in accordance with the sector’s ERAP pay schedule. Not all jobs have an award offered. Refer to the Sector Bonus Guidelines for more information.
How and when do I receive my award?
Payment processing begins upon hire after all eligibility requirements have been verified. Your award will be included in your paycheck after processing is complete. The exact timing depends on when payroll receives the payment paperwork and your sector payroll schedule.
What if I haven’t received my award after two pay periods?
Contact your ERAP Administrator.
Is my award taxable?
Yes, all awards are subject to tax withholding and other applicable deductions.
