Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Principal Financial Planning/ Sr Principal Financial Planning Analyst to join our growing team of diverse professionals at our sector headquarters in McLean, Virginia. This position will be a part of the Defense Systems Financial Planning & Analysis team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform variance analysis and identify key drivers of financial performance
- Support sector forecast and planning (AOP/LRSP) processes
- Prepare sensitivities analysis to evaluate risks and opportunities
- Provide analysis and insights to support executive reporting and decision-making
- Participate in process improvement initiatives/Digital Transformation
- Interact with personnel and management at all levels
- Other ad hoc duties and projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Well-organized, schedule-driven, and ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills to support variance reporting and quick turn ad hoc analysis for leadership
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, requiring minimal guidance and support
- Ability to work on-site in McLean, Virginia
Qualifications for a Principal Financial Planning Analyst (Level 3):
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of accounting or finance experience
- Will also consider:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience
- Master’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance experience
- PHD in Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 1 year of experience
Qualifications for a Sr Principal Financial Planning Analyst (Level 4):
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 12 years of accounting or finance experience
- Will also consider:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 8 years of accounting or finance experience
- Master’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 6 years of accounting or finance experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Program Control Analyst experience is a plus
- Experience with financial forecasting/budgeting and variance analysis
- Experience with financial planning/reporting tools (SAP S4 and Cognos IBM planning analytics)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Prior experience and success interfacing with multiple functions and varying levels of stakeholders
- Aerospace/Defense industry experience
- Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau)
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
