Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer – Computer Systems Architect to join our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
The candidate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working closely with other engineers and technicians in a lab-like environment to integrate, test, and troubleshoot software/hardware systems in complex IT systems.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Integrate, test, and troubleshoot software/hardware systems in complex IT systems.
- Support a program where application of extensive technical expertise will be required to support a developing system.
- Provide software, hardware, and system support to on-site end-users as well as engineering technical support for peer teams.
- Engineer and test new technical solutions in lab environments, technical requirements and/or bug fixes
- Support the IPT with software defect resolution and enhancement efforts.
- Develop and maintain Microsoft PowerShell scripts, Bash and Python scripts, and Microsoft Group Policies
- Work with storage systems and basic networking, Solaris 10 and 11, Oracle OEM, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, VMware ESXi, Vmware, and vCenter
- Script deployments of Microsoft Windows Server and Workstation and Solaris 10 and 11 operating systems
- Automate installation of COTS software
- Maintain COTS Hardware, software configuration matrix, technical installation, configuration, and update procedures
- Document and maintain technical installation, system configurations, and updating procedures
- Release CM controlled documentation, scripts, and COTS software media
- Implement engineering changes to the system as required while maintaining compatibility with existing architectures when implementing system enhancements
- Design and implement VMware high-availability virtualized infrastructures
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time for cross-team collaboration.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systems
- Demonstrated experience with VMWare
- Active CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
