Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer Database / Principal Engineer Database. As part of the NGAS Global Supply Chain Operations Performance team, the individual will be required to support a diverse array of tasks and projects within the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization. This position requires very good interpersonal skills, organization skills, and proficiency in various reporting systems. Knowledge of Supply Chain Management/Procurement concepts desired.
This position can be based out of our Palmdale, CA or Melbourne, FL locations.
The Database Engineer creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization.
In this role, the selected candidate will perform the following:
- Design, develop, document, test, integrate and debug data products created by scripts and custom tools
- Meet project milestones while ensuring high quality standards are met
- Interface with other groups and subject matter experts within and outside of the organization
Basic Qualifications - Engineer Database (Level 2):
- Bachelors in Science degree with 2 years of related experience, OR a Masters degree with 0 years of related experience
- Knowledge of relational databases (i.e. MSSQL)
- Proficient with writing Structure Query Language (SQL) scripts
- Experience with writing Python scripts to automate data insertion/extraction (ETL)
- Current & active DoD Secret clearance (to apply / start)
- Ability to obtain Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Basic Qualifications - Principal Engineer Database (Level 3):
- Bachelors in Science degree with 5 years of related experience, OR a Masters degree with 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of relational databases (i.e. MSSQL)
- Proficient with writing Structure Query Language (SQL) scripts
- Experience with writing Python scripts to automate data insertion/extraction (ETL)
- Current & active DoD Secret clearance (to apply / start)
- Ability to obtain Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with stakeholders
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines that use python and SQL
- Knowledge of Data Visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Microsoft Power BI)
- Knowledge of SAP HANA or FIORI
- Experience with configuration management and version control tools such as JIRA, Git/Bitbucket
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and analytic skills
- Active Special Access Program clearance
- Knowledge of Supply Chain data and/or processes
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
