Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Hardware Engineer to work within the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) Hardware organization as a senior member and technical lead. This role will be assigned to the computer hardware element of the DARC program which is responsible for the design, integration, test and delivery of the high-performance computing infrastructure for the DARC program. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Information Technology (IT), IT environments, and HW components such as servers, switches, routers, and network attached storage. This role requires a highly organized and motivated individual who can help set team priorities, collaborate with outside stakeholders, and technically contribute to the success of the organization. Experience with system administration and hardware baseline management is a must.
Job Duties Include:
- Set priorities for system administrators and hardware engineers within the team
- Support the technical baseline management and lead configuration changes through the internal change process
- Drive to closure open technical debt (i.e., Deficiency Reports (DRs), Problem Reports (PRs))
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity and Systems Engineering on the accreditation and Authority to Operate (ATO) package
- Ensure engineering processes and procedures are followed and adhered too
- Develop development of sustainment products (i.e., O&M manuals, R&R procedures)
Basic Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application with ability to obtain Top Secret
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience; 6 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tool suite
- Ability to apply agile principles
- Proficient in JIRA and Confluence
- Experience with HW Baseline Management
- Experience with computer system rack design and cable management
- Experience with VMware, Red Hat, and Kubernetes
- Security + certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
- Experience acting as a SCRUM Master
- Familiar with cybersecurity requirements
- Experience with development of reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) analysis
- Experience with hardware obsolescence and sustainability analysis
- Familiar with fiber optic installation
- Previous system administrator experience
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
