Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You'll Get to Do:
This position is in our Ground Mechanical Sustainment Team of the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System in support of the Ground Systems Sustainment Contract (GSSC) program and the United States Air Force (USAF) customer. Responsibilities include:
Provide technical contribution and leadership for new component/tool design, requirements definition, design for manufacturing, refurbishment processes.
Interact and work daily with the government customer to ensure projects expectations are met and schedules are kept.
Understand USAF processes, procedures, and requirements; develop mechanical integration approaches based on required instructions.
Performs functional analysis, system level analysis, detailed trade studies, and data analytics.
Manage development to meet program milestones, including managing risk and opportunities.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 12 years of relevant experience; Master’s Degree with 10 years’ experience; PhD with 8 years experience.
U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.
8 years demonstrated experience with working with external customer to meet program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
7 years of ICBM, Aerospace, or DoD program experience that demonstrates leadership, interpersonal skills, and written/verbal communication skills
5 years of experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
4 years of experience for Systems Engineering/Life Cycle Design, GD&T, and manufacturing
6 years of experience in a project lead role
5 years of experience mentoring/leading junior engineers
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience with maintenance and reliability engineering
Demonstrated experience using the following tools: ANSYS, MATLAB, or equivalents
Teamcenter/CPLM experience
Continuous Process Improvement experience
Proficiency with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience working with government customer
DoD Secret clearance.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
