Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Colorado Springs, CO and will support the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Selected candidate will be responsible for the architecture, development, and delivery of multiple assembly and test fixture engineering design solutions. This role provides the opportunity to be a technical expert, take ownership of the Special Test Equipment (STE) statement of work from concept design to product delivery, and to be one of the recognized Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) within the team for mechanical assemblies and fixtures. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Pro-actively communicate across teams to negotiate interface requirements
• Provide support to Manufacturing, Procurement, Lab Integration and Test
• Produce mechanical piece part drawings and General Assemblies (GA)
• Support the creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Provide mechanical engineering support to the Mechanical Design Engineering team
• Define and apply appropriate standards, materials and finishes in accordance with project requirements
• Maintain documents and drawings through development and production changes

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree in a STEM field of study; 6 years with a Masters; 4 years with a PhD.
US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
At least 1 year of experience with stress and structural analysis
At least 1 year of experience with LRU fabrication and installation processes with hands-on experience
At least 1 year of experience with test fixture design
At least 1 year of experience with parts, materials, and process selection and manufacturing support
At least 1 year of experience with HW Qualification Testing
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Expert level proficiency with design tools such as NX, AutoCAD, or Microsoft Visio
Prior experience in coordinating with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within a dynamic program environment
Experience with preparing and presenting oral and written reports
Familiarity with PM&P requirements per Aerospace TOR-2006(8583)-5235 / -5236
Experience with DoD architectures and Industry/Military Standards (e.g. MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-331, MIL-STD-1901A and Mil-STD-461)

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
