Aurora
You'll be joining our Aurora Software and Controls Department which has 200+ Technical staff in various leadership roles, Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Systems Administrators, Database Administrators, and Network Engineers from entry-level to the most senior chief engineers and architects. This engineering organization supports numerous programs within the Payload and Ground Systems organization. We have plenty of opportunity for career advancement into higher level technical roles or leadership positions. We are part of a larger local engineering organization that includes Systems Engineering and Hardware Engineering staff. This overall local engineering organization influences cross-program collaboration, professional development and training, as well as engagement activities such as lunch-n-learns, campus events, and leadership mixers.
Program
This program is a large multi-site distributed ground system development program with multiple software scrum teams on contract to deliver the Ground Segment for a restricted space program. The program spans command and control, mission planning and scheduling, and system infrastructure. The program has anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities beyond the current contract.
Job
This program is seeking experienced software engineers (or developers) to develop in C++, Python, and Perl in a RedHat Linux agile scrum and 3-month Increment environment using Atlassian tools as a team member on their Command and Control team.
Basic Qualifications:
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in Science with 5+ years of software development experience; 3+ years with a Master's; or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in Science with 8+ years of software development experience; 6+ years with a Master's; or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Active TS clearance required at time of application and ability to obtain SCI prior to start
- Ability to pass a Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly) (not required to start)
- At least 3 years of experience as a software developer
- Experience developing software in C++
- Experience developing software in Perl and/or Python
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
- Experience using Agile principles, processes, and tools
- Experience on Linux operating systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
- Current and active Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Prior completed Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly)
- Engineering or development experience with the Space Industry
- Experience developing in Command, Control, and/or Telemetry applications
- Experience that spans the full Software Development Life Cycle
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (such as Gherkin or Robot Framework)
- Ability to effectively communicate and present to program management and customers
- Ability to effectively write technical documentation
- Experience sharing knowledge, mentoring, and working in a collaborative environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, testing, and troubleshooting skills
- Experience developing software in Java
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
