Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Manager Software Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located onsite in Melbourne, FL or in Palmdale, CA.
You will be the product owner of a product team collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams, such as, Systems Engineering, Real-time & Embedded Software, Test Automation, DevOps, and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment. You will oversee and review system capabilities that resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
Essential Functions:
The successful candidate has experience with development, modification and maintain customized or standardized embedded Mission Systems applications using software engineering best practices and standards. Experience in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. Differentiating characteristics include demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, excellent oral and written communications skills, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Experience in successfully improving organization AND program processes and procedures.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of experience in Software Engineering OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of experience in Software Engineering.
- Experience with an Agile Framework within the last 3 years.
- Experience implementing software and scripts in one or more Object Oriented Programming languages: C#, C++, Python.
- Experience with software change control, change management, and CI/CD tools such as not limited to: GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, and/or Atlassian tool suite.
- Active (in-scope) DoD Secret level clearance required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP). Start date is contingent upon the ability to obtain special program access (PAR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Professional experience with at least one Cloud technologies and service providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft (MS) Azure, or Google Cloud within the last 3 years.
- Experience with virtual machines and virtual networks: VMware, Hyper-V, VPC, NSX-T, and/or NSX-V
- Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), or High-level Architecture within 3 years.
- Knowledge and experience with simulated threat environments, such as, AFSIM or NGTS and Full-Motion Flight Training Systems within the last 3 years.
- Experience with developing software for safety critical embedded systems.
- Demonstrated professional leadership experience.
- Familiarity with software requirements tools such as DOORS and Rational Rhapsody.
- Ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
- Demonstrated ability to build a diverse and inclusive team with engagement.
- Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills, and excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward).
- Experience leading a team of 12 employees with a record of on-time performance.
- Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities.
- Experience with task or resource planning, development of Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and IFC planning.
