Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our Engineering and Sciences Organization to help develop, enhance and maintain software on cutting edge products and systems. Candidates will work on software systems for mission systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle, primarily in C/C++.
We are looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer based out of Linthicum, Maryland.
Summary of Role:
As a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer within the Engineering and Sciences Organization you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Roles and Responsibilities:
Designs, develops, operates and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements.
Applies appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of engineering applications and products such as sensor systems, aircraft flight control and display systems, mechanical and electrical systems.
Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.
This position is in the Airborne Multifunction Sensors, Engineering and Sciences Organization supporting Emerging Capabilities Development.
Emerging Capabilities Development drives the maturation and development of forward-leaning solutions and products, transition of advanced capabilities and acceleration of technological business relationships. Our team provides technical skills, technologies, and processes to affordably develop, design, produce and sustain architectures across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to our customers.
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s degree with 6 years of experience, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S Citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Proficiency working in C/C++
Proficiency in working with real time embedded software
Experience in Signal Processing
Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Radar, Electronic Warfare, or Space technologies
Experience in algorithmic application development and optimization
Experience with VxWorks and/or Linux Operating Systems
Experience with Visual Studio
Experience with MATLAB
Experience in Open Architecture Solutions
Experience leading software teams
Experience with customer presentations

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
