Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Software Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting our Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU). This role is for a Ground software engineer to support Application Management (AM) Software Development.
What you’ll get to do: As a Software Engineer on this team, you will support the Application Management team where you will design, develop, document, refactor, test, and debug applications software for a Ground Segment. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission.
We have multiple Systems Software positions across the Ground program, on contract to deliver the ground segment for a restricted space program. This role is for a Python software developer where the focus is to support the Ground development efforts.
This role is for one software developer willing to do both frontend/backend work noting that the role will primarily focus on the backend. This individual must have Python experience
The successful candidate will have Python Software development experience, with the ability to digest changes and synthesize them into working designs, generate efficient code according to the specifications, adapt to changes as necessary that are driven by bugs or specification updates or the customer.
The candidate is expected to operate independently with oversight in a dynamic environment, to be highly self-motivated, reporting information to leads. The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions and working in a very collaborative and fast paced environment that continues to grow.
This position will be located at our Morrisville North Carolina location. This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.
Basic Qualifications
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at the time of application
Must be able to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) program access
Must be willing and able to successfully obtain an adjudicated a polygraph
Minimum years of experience needed to be considered:
2 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's
0 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's
4 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree
6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required)
Must have experience on all of the below:
Experience with Python.
Experience working on a software development team
Familiarity with any automated Python-based testing framework (Pytest/Behave preferred but any python-based framework works)
Experience working in cloud environment (AWS preferred)
Experience with RedHat Linux to enable development of software Python
Preferred Qualifications
Current/Active SCI program access
Positively adjudicated CI or FS poly
STEM degree
Experience working in a cloud development environment
Docker/Podman Experience
Microservice Architecture and Deployment with Kubernetes
Front-end development using JavaScript/vue.js
Full-stack - willing to do both front end/back-end work (Role likely focused more on front-end)
AWS Services (S3/DynamoDB)
Familiarity with JavaScript
