Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Engineer Systems for the Sentinel program located in Chandler, AZ. This position serves as the focal point between Systems Engineering and the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) provider and other engineering disciplines.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the development, decomposition, refinement and documentation of system, subsystem and component requirements and capabilities to support the Sentinel program, focusing on the SRM and related components and interfaces. This includes ensuring the requirements are captured in DOORS and are consistent with the CAMEO Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Model
- The Sentinel Principal Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the overall System-level development effort including integration of subsystem elements into the overall System-level design and related formal deliverables to the customer
- Directly responsible for supporting overall System-level end to end performance assessments of the Sentinel system and identifying, and leading the resolution of systems performance gaps relative to stakeholder requirements.
- Collaborate with senior systems engineers and other disciplines to support the development of the Sentinel deliverables
- Lead ad-hoc teams in the execution of tasking per the Integrated Master Schedule
- Interface regularly with our SRM supplier and customer
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with no experience
- Interim Secret DoD security clearance, or higher – work is performed in a closed area full time (100% onsite / 100% Closed area)
- Solid Rocket Motor experience
- Basic understanding of Solid Rocket Motor ballistic analysis
- Requirements Decomposition experience
- DOORS or other requirements Management Experience
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical personnel
- Demonstrated experience in requirements decomposition, validation, and verification
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBSE experience (Cameo or similar)
- Mechanical Engineering exposure – ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and analyses
- Electrical Engineering exposure - ability to read and understand electrical circuit diagrams
- Thrust Vector Controller or Actuator experience
- Supplier Management experience
- Control Account Manager experience
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
