Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a critical component of the Missile Defense System. It enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations, observe battle developments, and manage networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability, optimizing responses to threats across all phases of flight. It is integral to all system ground and flight tests, verifying and exercising current and future missile defense capabilities.
Essential Functions:
As a Systems Engineering Manager 1, you will play a crucial role in managing an on-site team providing engineering support from Colorado Springs, CO. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of direct reports and performing functional manager roles such as staffing, recruiting, timecard approval, and performance reviews
- Maintain high levels of engagement among team members and support their career development
- Interacting with internal program leadership and customers on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations
- Providing guidance and oversight to employees
- Demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit, self-starting capabilities, and the ability to challenge the status quo
- Focusing on customer satisfaction, with proven leadership, excellent communication skills, and a background in change management
Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields) from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
- Technical leadership skills (e.g., SW Lead, Test Lead, Product Owner, Scrum Master)
- Experience with hiring decisions and conducting disciplinary actions
- Domain experience in Missile Defense, Radars, and Space Systems
- Familiarity with Systems or Software Engineering processes and products.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to present clearly to senior leadership and customers.
- Experience working in an Agile Development environment with Continuous Integration
