Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems – Test Support SME (25-031) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Schriever Space Force Base, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
Support test and analysis activities of the Missile Defense National Team for C2BMC Architecture and System Engineering Global. Will work with a multi-contractor team in the development and execution of a comprehensive test and analysis program supporting a capability-based acquisition of the C2BMC Element of the BMDS.
Essential Functions:
- Plan and implement testing of C2BMC and related BMDS software and hardware components and perform post-test data analysis and reporting in a group environment the validation and verification of C2BMC interface and system level requirements
- Prepare test objectives and architectures and support writing of test and analysis plans/procedures, develop and validate post-test analysis tools, perform detailed post-test data analysis, prepare test reports, and brief test results to all levels of contractor and government management
- Must have experience with DoD test methodologies and terminologies and Missile Defense Agency elements or components and associated test tools
- Must have experience participating in system test events, exercises and/or wargames
- Must be able to independently and cooperatively develop test objectives, concepts, architectures in the context of the BMDS system, and write and execute test plans and procedures, develop and validate customized analysis tools, and coordinate post-test analysis on a broad level across the National Teams and MDA
- Experience with common Data Analysis techniques
- Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with people within and external to the program
Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Physics or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years of experience, or PhD degree with 4 years of related experience
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
- Understanding of DoD and missile defense command and control, battle management, architectures and communications system concepts, mission, and common system test and data analysis techniques
- Experience in developing test objectives and related data analysis plans and procedures, developing and validating system test analysis tools, and preparing and presenting system test analysis results
- Ability to technically and clearly communicate these concepts across a broad spectrum of audiences, including high level MDA, DoD and National Team staffs

- Message formats (e.g., TADIL-J, VMF)
