Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Systems Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, the Principal Engineer Systems Architect will perform functional & verification analyses, Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes for incremental capability development, and integration on military aircraft platforms in a fast-paced environment. This individual will also perform SOW aligned to Diagnostic Systems Coverage Analysis. This individual will collaborate with several stakeholders across distributed teams (subsystem developers, system integrators, system testers, etc.) to support delivery of quality design products. This individual will maintain technical cognizance of subsystem interdependencies and maturity of interfaces for identifying and resolving gaps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops system architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements
- Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications
- Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces
- Defines system implementation approach and operational concept
- Ensures requirements are met and evaluates performance with customer.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 years of related professional/military experience
- Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to the commencement of employment
- Must have experience with MBSE tools for system architecture modeling (e.g., Cameo, Rhapsody, GENESYS)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Systems Engineering principles and products
- An active, In-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance
- Previous or existing Program Access Request (PAR)
- Experience with MBSE tools for system architecture modeling (e.g., Cameo, Rhapsody, GENESYS)
- Experience with system modeling languages, approaches, and methodologies, such as SysML
- Experience with Agile methodologies
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
