Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an In-Flight Test Conductor for the GV Flying Test Bed (Level 3 or Level 4) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role you will assume the overall responsibility to plan, coordinate, and execute a safe and effective Mission Systems flight test as in-flight Test Conductor.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Flight Test card generation and execution to support program cost and schedule
- Management of flight test requirements and associated metrics
- Developing and executing pre/post-flight mission briefings and post-flight reporting
- Coordination with multiple customer organizations to develop Detailed Test Plans

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at a Principal Flying Test Bed Test Engineer (Level 3) or Senior Principal Flying Test Bed Test Engineer (Level 4) level based on the qualifications below.
Principal Flying Test Bed Test Engineer (Level 3)
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time as determined by the business.
- Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate medical clearance(s), as defined per the customer’s contracting requirements, for the duration of your employment, (E.g. FAA Class III Medical)
- Ability to compute, analyze, and communicate clearly across various levels for the safety of Flight and Test parameters.
- Professional experience in a Flight Test Control Room
- Must have the ability and be willing to work overtime, odd shifts, and weekends as required by the business
Senior Principal Flying Test Bed Test Engineer (Level 4)
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related professional/military experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time as determined by the business.
- Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate medical clearance(s), as defined per the customer’s contracting requirements, for the duration of your employment, (E.g. FAA Class III Medical)

- Professional experience in a Flight Test Control Room

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- FAA Private Pilot or higher certification
- Current Special Program Access
- Professional experience as a Test Conductor
- Mission Systems flight test experience
- Experience in the military aerospace development environment
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
