The Land and Maritime Sensors (LMS) Business Unit has an immediate need for a Sr. Staff SEIT Lead to lead and develop a portfolio of next generation maritime RF sensor systems and missions solutions. The Sr. Staff SEIT Lead plans and executes system engineering core functions; collects, manages, and reports engineering metrics; and is responsible for V&V of engineering across all program elements (systems/hardware/software/ support/integration and test).
The Sr. Staff SEIT Lead is typically responsible for ensuring teams have qualified staff to develop and demonstrate technical performance while satisfying allocated cost and schedule requirements. The Sr. Staff SEIT Lead reports directly to the program manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test and sustainment products for our customers and is compliant with company policy, procedures, and quality standards
Maintains cognizance over technical activities within program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and ensures horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company
Mentors Senior Integrated Product Team (IPT) leaders, fostering their professional growth and development by providing guidance, sharing expertise, and supporting them in achieving strategic objectives
The SEIT Lead typically supports large development/production programs that have medium/high risks with established or state-of-the-art processes in risk assessment and burn down of mitigation steps
Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and develops strategies for their insertion into both legacy and next-generation sensors
Provides physics level and mission level subject matter expertise
Guides system implementation approaches for operational concepts
Authors technical documentation such as white papers, proposal technical volumes, program milestone briefings (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, etc.), systems engineering design documentation
Generates and reporting system Technical Performance Measures
Leading / overseeing technical work products developed by the larger engineering team, supporting design reviews and integration and test activities as needed
Provides technical oversight to sub-contractors to ensure requirements and quality standards are met.
Supports the design and development of sensor system architectures
Provides oversight of Hardware/software design
Supports verification and validation of test activities
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
Performs key systems engineering elements to meet a given program’s requirements
Responsibility for close customer cooperation to ensure that requirements meet customer expectations
Presents to customers and senior management, with tailored material based on the audience
In addition, the ideal candidate has recent experience in surface maritime mission CONOPS for RF sensor development and manufacturing.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 14 years of experience; or 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree or 10 years of relevant experience with a Ph.D. 4 additional years in lieu of a degree
Candidate must be a US Citizen and have a current/active Interim Secret clearance. An Active DoD Secret Clearance is required for continued employment.
Knowledge of the System Engineering V-Model and hands on experience executing the systems engineering work flow
Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and creativity
Experience with the design or integration of RF systems or subsystems
Demonstrated previous Systems Engineering leadership experience on major Government Systems Acquisitions
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior leadership experience in IPT or SEIT Lead roles or equivalent
Full life cycle experience developing, integrating, and deploying maritime RF systems
Ability to monitor hardware and software design teams with critical insight to know when the teams are not on path to successful implementation and then be able help steer the team to a successful solution
Knowledge of model-based systems engineering principles and practice
Agile development experience a plus
Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills
Team player with a strong work ethic and initiative to perform in a cross functional team
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
