One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department is seeking a Systems Engineer - Integration and Test to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.
This position will serve on-site at Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.
What You’ll get to Do:
- Support the installation, integration, and testing of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom equipment used to further research efforts on superconducting microelectronic devices.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate equipment issues to support system build-out and sell-off.
- Communicate project status to the Integration and Test (I&T) IPT Lead.
- Collaborate with research scientists and systems engineers to perform system architecture characterization studies on various system components.
- Design, develop, and implement testing methods for individual pieces of equipment (both custom and COTS) and entire systems.
- Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer - Integration and Test:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
- Working knowledge in one of the following languages: MATLAB, Python, C, or C++.
- Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use basic manual tools.
- This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications for Systems Engineer - Integration and Test:
- Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.
- Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
- Working knowledge of standard design components: filters, couplers, splitters, amplifiers, etc.
- Familiarity with cryogenic test systems: dilution Refrigeration, 4 Kelvin cryo-coolers, Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigeration (ADR) and liquid helium emersion.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
