Our Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Reliability Engineer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for support projects associated with the design and development of communication, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The employee will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense systems or commercial purposes.
You will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS). LSMS provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-1 and B-2 Bombers, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering, and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability.
This Reliability Engineer will help develop, coordinate and conduct reliability, maintainability and availability studies and evaluations of engineering designs throughout the program life cycle (business capture, development, production and sustainment). This person will help support efforts within our LSMS area, to include technical planning, system integration, ground and flight testing, verification and validation, airworthiness, cost and risk, reliability / maintainability, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Responsibilities:
Develop, coordinate and conduct reliability, maintainability and availability studies and evaluations of engineering design throughout the program life cycle (business capture, development, production and sustainment
Provides reliability, availability, and maintainability guidance and leadership/support to various IPTs, ensuring program requirements and performances are understood
Understand Statement of Work/program specification content and applicability to program implementation, e.g., reliability and availability requirements, requirement allocations and flow down to lower assembly levels.
Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts
Develops reliability math models and allocations, Reliability Block Diagrams, Reliability and Maintainability Program Plans
Performs parts derating, reliability parts count/stress and process grades analysis and reliability simulations
Assesses reliability data of fielded systems for the purpose of assessing and documenting RAM and Logistics metrics and reliability (cumulative and instantaneous) growth trends
Performs reliability (MTBF, MTBCF, MTBUR, Ao, Am) analysis, maintainability and logistics (LRU, MTBM, MTTR, MDT, LDT, TAT) analysis, sparing analysis, and simulations which support military and industry standards
Recommends design or test methods and statistical analysis (AMSAA Planning Model and Reliability Growth Curves, Bayesian, Weibayes, Monte Carlo, Exponential, Poisson, Binomial, Weibull, Duane, Crow-AMSAA, etc.) for achieving required levels of product and system reliability
Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting reliability and maintainability
Develops mathematical models to identify items posing excessive failure risks
Proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or reliability processes
Determines items requiring environmental testing and number of samples to obtain statistically valid data
Develops FMECA to identify criticality levels based on failure rates and severity of the effects of failures
Develops and performs Reliability and Maintainability Demonstrations, Fault Detection/Fault Isolation analysis, and Prognostic Health Management analysis
Develops and executes ESS, ALT, and HALT plans and procedures and provide inputs from past experiences
Leads FRACAS meetings, perform FRACAS data mining and trend analysis, failure analysis, corrective actions; develop technical materials for presentation to the Failure Review Board, Problem Report and Resolution Board, and Ad Hoc
Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects and requirements
Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned
Support subcontractor evaluation, selection and coordinate activities with respect to reliability needs
Prepare for, present at and participate in design reviews
Effectively engage with external Customers and internal stakeholders
Generate high quality work products on-schedule and on-budget
Identify continuous improvement efforts as reliability engineering tasks are performed
Support program Engineering Configuration Change Board (CCB) and Corrective Action Board (CAB)
Ability to interpret Engineering drawings/schematics
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience
2 years of industry experience related to reliability engineering in design and/or product sustainment
Experiences with multiple modeling tools, such as ReliaSoft/RELEX Toolset (Reliability, Maintainability, OpSim, FMECA, Fault Tree, FRACAS, RGA, and Weibull++), AMSAA Models, VMETRIC, RAPTOR, etc.), used for reliability and sparing analysis
Experience in: root cause analysis, test design/execution/data analysis as applicable to accelerated life, reliability growth, and reliability modeling
Experience related to assessing and addressing R&M requirements for design development activities
Experience developing R&M program plans for new systems or for sustainment of existing systems to include staff planning, scheduling, collecting historical data, establishing configuration control processes for large program data storage and R&M software tools analysis
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and ability to obtain/maintain access to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (No Relocation Provided)
