Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire 2 (two) - Systems Engineering Section Manager 2 to serve a leadership role on the Support & Training (S&T) Segment Systems Engineering Team of the Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program. These leadership roles will be located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
These positions are a dual-role manager position, involving balancing both the overall functional oversight and management of a Systems Engineering group of up to 10 engineers while maintaining a technical baseline of performance on program work. The candidate will spend ~20% of their time on functional/organizational support and ~80% of their time on systems engineering technical program work. Functional management involves, but is not limited to, organizational administrative activities and helping employees’ performance and career development through guidance and training. The direct program responsibilities will be dependent upon programmatic technical work.

The selected candidate will clearly demonstrate strong management skills and will have a track record as a motivated leader, an effective communicator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The selected candidate will be placed according to their skillset and interests. Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Own both technical and programmatic leadership for a team of ~10 FTE performing systems engineering functions to define and develop support equipment or training devices.
• Serve as a Work Package Lead (WPL), owning, cost, schedule, and earned value responsibilities for the work your team performs.
• Generate OPSCON documentation to identify and understand the activities and support equipment required to maintain the prime mission equipment within the weapon system
• Perform System Architecture modeling activities (Internal Block Diagram, Block Definition Diagram, maintain branch integrity, perform model merge integration)
• Develop and mature interface products (Interface Requirements Specification, Interface Design Description, Interface Control Model)
• Perform requirements and verification approach definition for 200+ pieces of support equipment
• Own all aspects of Employee performance management, mentorship, training, and career development (functional homeroom)
This leadership opening is in Roy, UT with up to 10% travel on occasion.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 6+ years of related technical experience
• At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
• 2+ years of experience with Systems Engineering Lifecycle, in any of the following systems engineering domains: requirements development, systems architecture, verification planning, and interface definition experience
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
• Must have an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 7+ years of related technical leadership experience or Master's Degree with 5+ years of related technical leadership experience
• At least 3+ years experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule with proven results
• Strong understanding of the SE process, including SE experience across multiple levels of integration. 3+ years of experience with Systems Engineering Lifecycle, including requirements development, systems architecture, verification planning, and interface definition experience
• 3+ years of experience using IBM DOORS, Cameo, CPLM and/or NX
• 1+ years of experience with Agile project management using Jira, Confluence, or equivalent tools
Additional experience with support equipment, sustainment activities, ICBM programs, and/or financial reporting using Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SAP, and/or SCI access
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
