Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Staff Chief Engineer – Test in our SDS Division. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah, and supports the Sentinel program.

What you'll get to do:
Deputy Chief Engineer providing leadership and technical expertise in the System Test disciplines towards the achievement of the Sentinel Program’s EMD goals.
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of EMD test activities
- Development and execution of long-range plans and strategies while providing the most effective Technology Solutions to the program
- Awareness of best practices and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on System Test analysis, test equipment development, design and Weapon System Integration
- Deploy architectures that aligns automation data integration with the Digital Engineering Environment
- Build technical roadmaps in support of program and organizational goals to achieve affordability and cost reduction initiative targets
- Apply and develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts
- Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Partner with members of the Office of the Chief Engineer to ensure test strategy satisfies USG Weapon System requirements
- Take leadership role in providing insight and knowledge transfer to others on internal and external technical solutions to solve complex problems
- Develop advanced technological ideas and guide development into final product
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 12 years of progressive engineering experience; 10 years with Master’s; 8 years with PhD.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Experience in planning and executing weapons system development and test
- Demonstrated ability to address complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious
- Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
- Self -starter with strong program technical leadership skills
- Ability to leverage experience/background to bring alternative ideas/solutions to the team
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- A proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for change
- Aerospace / Missile Industry Experience
- Demonstrated role in weapons system test planning and execution, leading team to achieve critical organizational objectives
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes and approaches leveraging modern MBSE processes & tools
- Ideal candidate will have experience in a technical leadership on teams with 10+ individuals
- Ability to integrate, engage, and lead team to perform at top level of performance
- Strong partnership/collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to partner cross-IPT/cross-discipline within a team
- Strong program execution skills; Demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
