Northrop Grumman is seeking an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer 4 to join our Corporate Environment, Health and Safety team located in Falls Church, Virginia. The selected applicant will be responsible for successfully developing, implementing and managing all health and safety programs in accordance with government and company requirements.
This position will be located in our Falls Church, VA location.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
Administer the company’s internal EHS compliance audit program and conduct management systems evaluations.
Develop and implement company health and safety compliance policies, procedures and strategies.
Oversee occupational health and safety compliance and training programs.
Liaison with external health and safety organizations and vendors.
Direct and mentor junior staff.
Develop and lead enterprise-wide health and safety initiatives.
Represent company in government and industry rule-making activities.
Partner with engineers, scientists and management to support the integration of health and safety into the design of new or altered processes and operations and building construction projects.
Collaborate with senior leadership to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability in support of health and safety programs.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s (BS) degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field, and a minimum of 8 years of experience in occupational health and safety compliance OR a Master of Science (MS) in the same disciplines with 6 years of relevant experience OR an Associate’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma and 12 years of relevant experience.
Extensive experience in reviewing and analyzing federal, state, local and international health and safety regulations and developing appropriate compliance strategies.
Extensive experience in conducting EHS regulatory compliance assurance assessments.
Extensive experience with managing various health and safety compliance programs (with a special emphasis on ergonomics, industrial hygiene or industrial safety).
Experience with managing/overseeing third party consultants/contractors.
Ability to travel to various project locations in the United Sates and possibly international.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional health and safety certification such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop more efficient and enhanced programs.
Demonstrated ability to provide direction to determine priorities to achieve goals.
Extensive computer based skills specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.
Expertise experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Tableau.
Excellent communication skills and collaboration with all levels of an organization are a must.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
