Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Driver Heavy Vehicles 2 to join our team at the Palmdale, CA facility. This position requires travel about 75% of the time.
Job Responsibilities:
- The position will operate heavy-duty trucks (typically with either a semi-trailer or heavy-duty trailer) to transport materials, merchandise, or equipment within an industrial area.
- Coordinates the loading or unloading of trucks and trailers.
- Accountable for all aspects of safe operations of vehicle and equipment used in transporting company and government owned assets.
- Organize loads to minimize delivery times and reduce waste.
- Make minor mechanical adjustments as required and maintain the cleanliness of equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma plus 2 or more years driving experience.
- Must have a current Class A CDL with Hazardous Material endorsement.
- Shall provide a current MVR with zero moving violations in the past year.
- Must meet all DOT pre-employment requirements.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment and work well with customers.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and a Program Special Access Clearance (after starting).
- Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and possession of a valid Class A CDL with Hazardous Material and Passenger Endorsements.
- Ability to read in-plant handling manual instructions, including special tie-down arrangements.
- Two years or more experience driving transportation vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001lbs. or more and its equivalent in on-the-job training as a forklift operator.
- Experience with basic computer software including Word, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to operate mobile devices (iPad, iPhone).
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
