Northrop Grumman is seeking a Director, Legislative Affairs. This position reports to the Vice President of Legislative Affairs and is responsible for working to achieve Northrop Grumman's legislative goals, including advocacy on behalf of federal policy initiatives and company programs. The Director will lead the development and execution of legislative strategies for a diverse portfolio of national security issues through collaboration with colleagues and business leaders.
The Legislative Affairs Director will work as part of a team to provide company leadership with timely legislative analysis and recommendations and will represent the company directly with Members of Congress, congressional committees, and staff. The individual will facilitate congressional engagements, including briefings, visits to company facilities, and events.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Law, Business or related field and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
Comprehensive understanding and demonstrated knowledge of the aerospace and defense industries and national security policy.
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to provide strategic recommendations.
Extensive exposure to the legislative and political environment, national security policies and priorities, federal budgeting, and the authorization and appropriations processes.
Timely and thorough analytical skills, and the ability to communicate about complex issues to both internal and external executives and decision makers.
Ability to be flexible and creative in a dynamic environment.
Uncompromising ethics, integrity, and sound judgment, including a commitment to meeting, and exceeding, professional standards for lobbyists.
A commitment to working cooperatively as part of a team, and a strong track record of building and maintaining effective relationships.
An active security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a public policy or national security related field.
Demonstrated experience leading a team to achieve specific goals and objectives.
