Are you interested in defining possible? Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a candidate with outstanding leadership skills to fill a Systems Engineering Manager 1 position within the Engineering and Sciences (E&S) organization.
What You’ll get to Do:
This position will be located in Chantilly, VA supporting the SIGINT Technology Center (STC) within the Autonomous & Intelligence Solutions (A&IS) Operating Unit. The STC is where technology and teamwork come together to meet the unique needs of the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. The STC is comprised of multiple mission-focused programs with projects ranging from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) SIGINT payload and data link development to OCONUS/CONUS mission/maintenance support. STC tasks include system design, engineering development, system integration, hands-on build and test, field operations and maintenance, training, and production.
This role requires a strong technical leader who can balance engineering leadership and technical contributions. The qualified candidate will lead a high-performing team providing engineering solutions for multiple mission-focused programs with projects ranging from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) SIGINT payload and data link development, to OCONUS/CONUS mission/maintenance support. The qualified candidate will also be an individual contributor working approximately 90% in an engineering capacity directly on programs .Management responsibilities include administrative functions such as employee communication, employee engagement, performance management, mentoring and career development, employee rewards and recognition, and resolving personnel issues. Additional technical management responsibilities include employee skills development, strategic hiring, labor forecasting and planning, program technical execution through close collaboration with program and business management, and balancing employee needs with business goals.
This position requires onsite work in the Chantilly facility with the option for flexible work schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a technical leader within the organization, guiding system engineering efforts across diverse program.
Manage and develop a team of engineers, fostering innovation and ensuring successful program execution.
Perform hands-on system engineering tasks, including architecture development, requirements analysis, and systems integration.
Lead and contribute to the design, development, and fielding of complex system solutions.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems
Ensure compliance with industry and company standards, requirements, and best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree within a technical field with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PHD with 1 year of experience
Demonstrated technical and people leadership of diverse and inclusive teams.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously.
Demonstrated success working well within a team environment and adapting quickly to change.
Experience with full engineering life cycle.
Time management skills and a proven ability to follow through with commitments.
Strong written, oral communication, and organizational skills.
U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance and special accesses.
Preferred Qualifications:
Broad ISR mission area experience.
Program management, functional management, and customer management skills.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
Prior experience leading technical teams or managing individual contributors.
Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
