We are looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Software Configuration Analyst based out of Buffalo, NY. What You’ll get to Do:
- Serve as an integral team member who will interact with other developers, other engineering disciplines, and our customers.
- Support Software product leadership by processing software defect fixes into software builds and coordinating with the Software team to test the software before releasing the updates to fielded systems.
- Track unique system configurations to help determine the applicability of software defect fixes for legacy releases.
- Maintain a database of the software products and software configurations delivered to our customers.
- Lead the effort to continuously expand and enhance our internal software configuration management processes and procedures.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products.
- Perform configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented.
- Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software configuration management release process.
- Design and implement build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. Help develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
- Apply the appropriate Software Configuration Management standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of engineering applications and products such as laboratory simulation systems, and display systems.
- Support and expand the automated infrastructure for our nightly software builds as well as the Continuous Integration Pipeline Infrastructure.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and other technical and support personnel.
- Support development of software configuration processes and guidelines for company-wide use.
- Documentation of the software release and configuration management process.
- Train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and create procedures to ensure the adequate transfer of knowledge and that the proper process is followed when developing and deploying software products.
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Software Configuration Analyst:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience. (Or 6 years with a Master of Science Degree, or 4 years with a PHD).
- Experience with Software Development.
- Experience with Unix/Linux Operating Systems
- Experience with Windows Operating Systems
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Red Hat Linux Operating Systems
- Experience generating software releases
- Experience with Git/GitHub
- Experience with JIRA
- Experience with Jenkins
- Experience with SonarQube
- Experience with Confluence
- Experience with Agile Development methodologies
- Experience working on Department of Defense (DOD) software configuration management efforts
- Experience working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
