Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Manager 2 to join our Space Payload Integration Team located at Linthicum, MD MSAT/SAF3 facility.
You will be responsible for safe and efficient execution of the Pre-Range & Pre-Ship activities for a major Space production program.
You will work independently across organizations; manage the use of personnel and equipment to achieve budget targets; implement our process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule; and collaborate with the Cost Account Manager to achieve cost targets. You have demonstrated leadership skills and ability, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll get to Do:
- Provide direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies; design and process development, production, operations, engineering, test, and quality assurance functions.
- Drive employee efficiency.
- Meet product cost and schedule targets.
- Manage the area to produce quality products and coordinate priorities.
- Oversee and manage ~10-15 employees that include cross functional teams of engineering, techs, quality, manufacturing engineering during Pre-Range/Pre-Ship efforts.
- Coordinate calibration of test sets with cross functional teams.
- Control Account Manager and Earned Value responsibilities.
- Maintain IMS inputs for EGSE.
- Review and optimize SAF3 space for efficient production flow.
- Interface with quality, mission assurance and test engineering to coordinate priorities as well as test shift coverage, schedule, and delivery.
- Provide insight to capital expenditures, capacity planning and facilities management.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Production, IT or Engineering environment; Master’s Degree with 6 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Production, IT or Engineering environment; PhD and 3 years of work experience in a Manufacturing, Production, IT or Engineering environment (Note, 12 years of work experience in a Manufacturing, Production, IT or Engineering environment may be considered in lieu of degree).
- Prior experience managing personnel/teams
- Experience with staffing management/capacity planning
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret Level Security Clearance including SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or other STEM area plus 9+ years relevant experience
- 7+ years of experience leading and managing production or development projects with direct personnel, including resource management
- Background in RF testing or a related field
- Experience working with Integrated Test Equipment (Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, etc.)
- Experience with SAP/MES
- Lean Manufacturing Experience
- Active TS/SCI clearance
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
