Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Risk and Opportunity Lead in Huntsville, AL to support programs within the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) Operating Unit. The primary objective of the position is facilitation of the Risk and Opportunity Management process in support of multiple programs within the US/FMS business areas.
Key Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Facilitate execution and maintenance of the defined Program Risk, Issue & Opportunity processes and ensure the Risk & Opportunity Management Plan is kept up to date and current.
- Coordinate and organize regularly scheduled Risk and Opportunity Management Board (ROMB) and Risk and Opportunity Working Group (ROWG) meetings and maintain records of meeting artifacts and minutes
- Support programs in coordinating and conducting thorough risk and opportunity management practices including identification, analysis, and handling
- Review the current risk and opportunity registers to ensure the execution plan is being followed and recommend corrective action where needed
- Assist program managers/directors with risk and opportunity handling approaches, mitigation plans and opportunity pursuit plans. Assist in identifying and incorporating emerging risks and opportunities.
- Ensure that program risk and opportunity management activity is reviewed as part of the program and business area strategic rhythm
- Support program management and program cost account managers (CAMs), project managers, and Business Management in ensuring risks, issues, and opportunities are correctly represented in the program earned value management (EVM) and financial reporting. Assist with coordinating the integration of mitigation and/or maximization plans into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
- Support program managers/directors with risk and opportunity metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the risk and opportunity management process and procedures. Assist in producing reports and presentations to leadership on program risk and opportunity posture along with presentations to inform and advise management on status of critical project risks and mitigations
- Coordinate training for risk owners and CAMs on Risk and Opportunity Management
- Facilitate and support phased TRIO Risk and Opportunity Management tool integration and maintenance. Serve as local tool administrator and develop expertise in TRIO tool capabilities and reporting
Basic Qualifications
- This requisition may be filled at either a Principal (Level 3) or Sr Principal (Level 4) level
- A03- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience OR Master's degree with 3 years of experience OR PhD with 1 year of experience
- A04 - Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience OR Master's degree with 6 years of experience OR PhD with 4 years of experience
- Proven experience in risk management, with an excellent understanding of risk management principles and techniques
- Demonstrated success leading teams and/or organizations to achieve a common goal
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited guidance and exercise independent judgment, knowing when to elevate concerns or issues
- Strong executive briefing skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- This is an in-office (onsite) position in Huntsville, AL
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting U.S. DoD programs
- Experience with the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) program and/or other C2 production and software programs
- Experience in leveraging automation and software tools that promote efficiency, i.e. SharePoint, Confluence, Teams
- Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
