PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Demonstrates competency in executing measurements, performing routine repairs, performing calibrations in one or more discipline areas as well as detecting and resolving basic problems.
WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
In addition to performing the duties of the Jr. Calibration Technician, performs the following:
Set up, maintain, and calibrate working level instruments and laboratory standards for any five (5) or more types of instruments within one of the following three groups.
Mechanical & Physical work such as:
1. Pressure 5. Force
2. Vacuum 6. Torque
3. Temperature
4. Humidity
Gage work such as:
1. Optics 5. Rings, plug, snap & fixtures (“Go-“No Go”)
2. Machine cutting tools 6. Angular & Radial measurement
3. Threads 7. Lineal measurement
4. Hardness 8. Laser Interferometry
9. Surface flatness
C. Electrical and electronic work such as:
1. Time and frequency 6. DC Voltage, current and power
2. Distortion 7. AC Voltage, current and power
3. Acceleration 8. Resistance, capacitance, inductance
4. Vibration 9. Bridges
5. Displacement & velocity 10. Oscilloscopes
Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair instruments and standards as required.
Recommend improvements and change to calibration procedures and instrument recall cycles. Perform similar or lower classified work as required.
DIRECTION OF OTHERS:
Provide technical guidance and instruction to other technicians in lower classifications.
DIRECTION RECEIVED:
Occasional technical assistance from Laboratory Engineers and higher classified technicians. General assistance from immediate supervisor.
This is a Union represented position.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
A Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Calibration Technician or equivalent such as related instrument calibration and repair work.
US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree from an accredited school, or other 2 year technical college degree.
Prior work experience in physical, dimensional, and electrical calibration processes.
