Northrop Grumman Defense System is seeking an SCA Electronics Maintenance Technician 2 to join our team in Yorktown, VA to support the U.S. Navy's Mk48 Heavyweight Torpedo program.
What you’ll Get to Do:
- Electronics Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for the repair, modification, and maintenance of a variety of electronic equipment and Electronic Warfare systems. You will be working on highly complex systems and equipment that are mission critical for the MK-48 Heavyweight Torpedo and associated test equipment
- Perform a variety of routine preventative and corrective maintenance operations on various electro-mechanical torpedo test equipment utilizing approved documentation
- Routinely use and be exposed to hazardous materials in the conduct of maintenance operations i.e. hydraulic fluid, OTTO II Fuel and cleaning agents
- Conduct routine Ordnance Handling Evolutions within the facility using specific designed equipment
- Use common electronic test equipment such as oscilloscope, digital multimeters and logic analyzers to troubleshoot equipment failures
- Use NAVSEA drawings and publications to make repairs on electrical cables and connectors
- Submit request to government for publication corrections, process improvement, and deviations (waivers) from publications
- Perform all work in a strict procedural compliant manner
- Perform calibration on electro-mechanical torpedo test equipment
Basic qualifications:
- US Citizenship with current Interim Secret Security Clearance (or higher)
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 year’s additional education and/or related experience
- Must be proficient in troubleshooting (board/component level) and problem solving using associated devices such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and schematics
- Ability to meet annual screening per OPNAV 5530/1 {Report of Screening for Personnel Assigned AA&E Security Related Duties). Items checked include, but not limited to, Criminal History Record Information, Foreign influence, Financial History, Emotional and mental Disorders
- Demonstrated work experience using common hand tools, measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers, and basic electronic equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers)
- Ability to pass a physical exam for an Explosive Handler position/Department of Transportation (DOT) Explosive Driver
- Ability to qualify as a Category III Crane Operator
- Previous experience with working on Electrostatic sensitive equipment using ESD controls
- Previous experience with manufacturing, testing and troubleshooting electronic systems
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as steel toe shoes, face shield, goggles, protective suit and a variety of gloves
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access)
Preferred qualifications:
- Associate degree or military equivalent in electronics technologies plus 2 years additional education and/or related experience
- Previous experience with soldering
- Ability to read and understand and troubleshoot utilizing electronic schematics
- 4+ years of related experience in the MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo program or similar Ordnance programs through the military or performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting in an industrial setting
- Experience and knowledge on calibrated equipment (torque wrenches, gauges)
- Experience using common hand tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers
- Military Explosive Handler Qualifications
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
