Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal or Sr Principal Project Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals driving high quality program execution through their direct support and performance as a member of the Program Operations & Integration team Risk Management team. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
Due to the nature of the role, an on-site presence is required and cannot be performed remotely.
The position will follow our 9/80 schedule and allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This is an individual contributor, non-manager role with no direct reports.
The successful candidate is expected to be an assertive, resourceful, self-starter able to work collaboratively with internal teams and external customers in high-tempo environments. Candidate will work the Program Management Office to integrate, control, and manage program requirements to ensure success of a restricted program. This role requires the ability to integrate the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between program management, program integration and project teams. Candidate will be focused on risk, issue and opportunity management, but will be expected to assist the program with other activities in support of the PMO business rhythm.
Key roles and responsibilities:
This position will assist in the overall Risk, Issue and Opportunity (RIO) management process implementation, execution, and training.
Integrates RIO management across the program and evaluates risk and opportunity handling approaches and mitigation and pursuit plans to determine adherence to defined processes
Organizes and conducts meetings to facilitate communication and execution of the risk and opportunity management process.
Provides horizontal and vertical integration of the RIO SOW for each of the operating units and IPTs
Informs and advises higher level management on critical project risks and mitigations.
Assures integration of the EVMS process with the risk and opportunity management process.
Supports the Program Management Office and Leadership to accomplish a variety of precise, time-sensitive monthly deliverables, metrics, and presentations
Collaborates across Functions to ensure all objectives are met
Assists with monitoring progress, assessing project issues and driving actions to closure to meet program goals and objectives
Works collaboratively with risk owners and associated CAMs to meet risk mitigation and opportunity development commitments,
Troubleshoots and assists with administrative management of the program-selected RIO tool
Drives a sense of urgency and acts with speed to meet all needs of the business and stakeholders
Prepares status reports and maintains detailed project logs
Assesses project issues and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives
This role may be filled at a Principal or Sr. Principal level based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Project Management:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years', Master’s degree with 3 years', or a PhD with 1 year of relevant experience (Note: An additional 4 years of applicable work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
At least 2 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to influence and drive results without direct authority of personnel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work with and manipulate detail-oriented data
Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company

Bachelor’s degree with 8 years', Master’s degree with 6 years', or a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience (Note: An additional 4 years of applicable work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
At least 2 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to influence and drive results without direct authority of personnel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work with and manipulate detail-oriented data
Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Top Secret clearance (granted or renewed within the last 5 years)
At least 2 years of professional experience within the Aerospace or Defense Industry
Project integration experience
Experience working in Confluence/JIRA
Experience with Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management
Understanding of the Integrated Management Framework (IMF) or project management framework
Experience working in technical engineering environment
Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
Control Account Manager (CAM) certification
Experience working with cross-functional teams
Technical background and/or familiarity working with technical teams
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
