The Mission Systems (MS) Sector Analytics and Insight organization is seeking a Principal Data Engineer located in Baltimore, MD to lead the implementation of strategic operations and program execution initiatives. In support of MS multiple divisions, the individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data infrastructure, leading data engineering efforts, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and quality of data pipelines while collaborating closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions, often including data governance and best practices across the MS Sector. This individual will be responsible for developing data engineering and architecture solutions that enable new business insight. They will be responsible for implementing data validation and cleansing processes to maintain data quality. .The individual will interact and consult regularly with MS Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Program Leadership, and supporting Functional Leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Participate in the planning, design, development and implementation of solutions to address ongoing business performance opportunities and performance improvement.
Work in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum based environment.
Implement process changes to improve business outcomes.
Develop impactful predictive modelling, Monte Carlo simulations and advanced analytics
Support cross-team development efforts for multiple projects, including data cleanup, ingestion, and linkage with other data sets.
Develop and support data architectures, data pipelines and data management solutions.
Document design, deployment and operating procedures for each work product.
Present data in a meaningful way (insights, visualizations) to executive management.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data engineering, data analytics, business analytics, or related field and 5 years of experience; OR a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience.
Experience using SQL programming and database management skills to architect, optimize and maintain SQL code for databases, tables, views, stored procedures and functions in MS SQL Server
Experience with one or more of these database systems: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite
Experience developing ETL and ELT workflows using a variety of older and newer ETL tools for moving data among networks, such as: Microsoft Access, SSIS, Windows Task Scheduler, batch scripts, Windows PowerShell, Python scripting, Scala, Spark, Alteryx
Experience and demonstrated proficiency with Python or R
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in information technology, data science, industrial engineering, or related field
Experience and demonstrated knowledge and application of: Lean, Six Sigma, ToC, and Scaled Agile
Experience and understanding of advanced descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis techniques and methodology
Experience and familiarity with SAP
Experience and/or training with cloud database tools, especially those in AWS and Azure
Experience and familiarity with an Oracle based data warehouse
Experience with analysis and visualization of data: Tableau, Power BI
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
