Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a Staff Research Scientist to join our Manufacturing Technology and Thermal team. This position will be at our Propulsion Systems Division facility located in Promontory, UT.

Roles and Responsibilities:
This research scientist/process engineer position is responsible for providing technical expertise and consultation on chemical scale-up issues, including planning, energetics processes, cost estimation, and plant design. You will also be expected to have working knowledge of chemical analysis techniques, such as chromatography and spectroscopy.
Leading chemical synthesis scaleup, lab to production
Chemical production plant design and cost estimating
Process and process equipment troubleshooting
Review of material and production specifications
Presentation of data and recommendations to internal and external customers
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering and 8 years, 10 years with the MS or 8 years of experience with a Ph.D.
Required Qualifications:
A qualified candidate for this position should have some experience relevant to this position, including:
Chemical synthesis scaleup experience, lab to production
Process control system/control strategy experience
Experience with HA, DFEMA & PFEMA methods
Candidate must be able to obtain a clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
5yrs, energetics scaleup experience
Analytical instrumentation experience
Ability to work well with a multi-disciplinary team
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)
Experience with laboratory procedures and knowledge of safety requirements
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
