Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a Principal/ Sr. Principal Research Scientist to join our Analytical Chemistry team. This position will be at our Propulsion Systems Division facility located in Promontory, UT.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Be part of a team of analytical chemists within Propulsion Systems Innovation Works and the Research & Development lab
Provide analytical testing in support of material characterization and Program problem-solving
Collaborate with engineers, synthesis chemists and Program management to identify the best testing solutions for their needs
Trouble-shoot instrumentation and develop new procedures as needed
Basic Qualifications:
This position can be filled at either a level 3 or level 4.
Basic Qualifications for a level 3:
Minimum BS degree in Chemistry or related field with 5 years analytical experience, MS degree in Chemistry or related field with 3 years experience or PhD in Chemistry or related field with 1 year experience
Excellent communication skills
Applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Basic Qualifications for a level 4:
Minimum BS degree in Chemistry or related field with 8 years analytical experience, MS degree in Chemistry or related field with 6 years experience or PhD in Chemistry or related field with 4 year experience
Excellent communication skills
Applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using HPLC, GPC, LC/MS a plus
Experience handling and testing energetic materials a plus
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. A 4/10, Monday through Thursday schedule is also available.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
