Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Engineering Technician 3 of 4 to support our Armament Systems business located in Plymouth, MN.
Please note this position may be filled at the Technician 3 or Technician 4 level depending on the candidate’s education and/or years of experience
Position Summary
Work closely with our engineering team to help develop equipment and processes for the manufacturing of Medium Caliber ammunition. Support research and development, engineering development and transition-to-production efforts on a wide variety of product types.
Duties include building, testing, operating, and troubleshooting production equipment and other similar items. Other items will include building prototype parts, tooling, process aids, and process proveouts.
Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Aiding in creating documentation of processes, training materials, updating drawings, and other similar tasks will be needed between other projects.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate excellent attention to detail and offer efficient suggestions to improve processes. With career progression, the individual would take on more responsibility, develop assembly processes and procedures, and make suggestions to the engineering team for improvements. Must have a strong work ethic and learning attitude, have a safety-oriented mindset, and be a responsible, motivated team player capable of working individually and as a team member in a fast paced environment.
Travel
Note that this role occasionally requires domestic and international travel amounting to up to 30 days at a time on a rotational schedule as required by contracts.
Required Qualifications:
- To qualify for Engineering Technician 3
- High School diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience.
- To qualify for Engineering Technician 4
- High School diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of demonstrated engineering/lab/production technician experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with standard hand tools, inspection equipment, and other general power tools and machinery.
- Able to read technical drawings, follow written and oral instructions, communicate effectively.
- Ability to safely use basic hand tools and shop equipment.
- Candidate must have the ability to acquire a Security Clearance.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and provide proof of citizenship.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with running large metal working equipment.
- Engineering design or test experience.
- Multi-lingual specifically in Polish or Arabic.
- 2+ Experience using electrical equipment and electrical engineering technician experience.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
