Rocket Center, WV is located along the North Branch Potomac River in Mineral County, West Virginia and is home to the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL), a government installation operated by Northrop Grumman. Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Operates analytical instrumentation
- Performs standard analytical test methods for quality control, material assessment, or engineering evaluation
- Provides technical support to plant personnel on a variety of tasks
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
- Follows engineering documentation requirements including specifications and drawings
- Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
- Performs quantitative judgments concerning technical data
- Prepare, assemble and disassemble known and unique energetic articles
- Disposes of energetics and raw materials per regulatory guidelines
- Communicates well across multiple disciplines
- Monitors gauge, instrument, and equipment calibrations
- Performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions
- Support research scientists with operation of sub-scale mixers
- Able to work overtime as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be willing to work 2nd shift
- High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience to qualify.
- Technology Degree preferred
- Ability to routinely lift 30 pounds and ability to work in tight spaces
- Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Proficient in MS office
- Ability and willingness to provide coverage on weekends
- Experience handling energetics, hazardous chemicals, and solvents preferred
- Ability to obtain a security clearance as needed
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
