Our UK Internship Programme (12-Month Industry Placement) will help you develop the skills needs to build a successful career in Defence and technology. During your placement, we are committed to providing you with a comprehensive support system that includes a dedicated mentor, buddy, project lead, and line manager. Placements starts in September each year.
About the role:
Are you ready to work on critical project that supports the UK’s submarines?
We are seeking talented project managers support our technical teams to design and develop Platform Management Systems (PMS) for the UK’s fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.
In this role, you will organise and manage project teams to ensure our systems meet the demanding requirements of operational reliability, security, and performance in mission-critical environments.
You’ll play a key role in supporting the next generation of PMS, ensuring they are future-proof and meet evolving operational demands. Your will communicate with key stakeholders ensuring the system remains secure and adaptable over the lifetime of the submarines.
This is a unique opportunity to grow your project management expertise and apply it to the world’s most advanced submarines.
Role responsibilities:
As an Intern Project Manager, you’ll support the delivery of pioneering projects that will ensure our customers’ missions succeed. You will: Different font size below
Support the project management team to organise and manage the cross-discipline, matrixed project teams
Ensure teams meet schedules and cost targets as defined in the master schedule and in line with KPIs
Work with the programme to ensure the smooth running of customer meetings and periodic reviews
Ensure the project delivery team is responsive to customer needs
Provide the programme with status reports on key activities in accordance with the project drumbeat
We are looking for:
Working towards a degree (or equivalent) in a Project Management or Engineering-related subject (awarded or predicted)
Familiarity with basic project management methodology tools
Experience as part of a project delivery team – this could be in project teams at university
The ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems
